What is Karcher RM110?

Orangey Yellow Solution for Calcification.

If you are not aware, Limescale calcification can be catastrophic for hot water systems within pressure washers, causing all sorts of malfunctions and machine break-downs. How do I stop Limescale build-up in my pressure washer? It’s a very simple solution: Karcher RM110.

Karcher RM110 is a powerful chemical that can be used in any pressure washing hot water system that facilitates a water softener dosing unit. It is an effective anti-limescale solution which can be drip-fed into the water tank, assuming you have a compatible Karcher machine, if not your machine must have a device with system care adaption. If applicable, Aqua Blast Systems recommend purchasing Karcher RM110 along-side your Karcher machine as the Warranty lays in conjunction with Karcher RM110 or Karcher RM111 Chemicals.

Prevents limescale deposits in hot water high-pressure cleaners. The new formula offers improved protection against the build-up of limescale in heater coil systems (up to 150 °C) as well as integral corrosion protection for all HDS machine components that come into contact with water.

Aqua Blast Systems have a soft-spot for Karcher HDS 6/10 machines due to their pure excellence in performance. This machine is our best seller and our recommendation to customers as this model performs well in the majority of application: Vehicle Cleaning, Equipment and Machinery Cleaning, Workshop Cleaning, Outdoor Area Cleaning, Service Station Cleaning, Swimming Pool Cleaning, Production Processes and Systems Cleaning – The list goes on! The Karcher HDS 6/10 is an all-round favourite.

Firstly, Aqua Blast Systems reflect that this machine has the least repairs carried out due to its versatile technology and hardened construction. Such as The Soft Dampening System (SDS) which compensates for vibration and pressure peaks in the high-pressure system. Therefore, off-loading strain from the components of the machine and essentially protecting them, potentially money-saving technology. The SDS also protects the heating coil against calcification damage: a build-up of limescale which can cause your pressure washer to malfunction. However, if for any reason your machine proceeds to construct deposits of limescale, you can run Karcher RM110 chemical through it to break-down and dispose of calcification. Aqua Blast Systems recommend using RM110 from the point of purchasing your pressure washer as Warranty must be in conjunction with RM110 or RM111 Chemicals.

Appropriately, due to the vast areas this machine can be operated in, the HDS 6/10 comes attached with; an industrial heavy-duty, low-speed motor functioning at 1,450RPM, so you can rely on your motor not getting overwhelmed as it manages its load with ease – Giving you peace of mind of machine break-downs.

What about the pump? Manufactured with excellence, this model is equipped with a three-piston Axial pump unit where ceramic pistons are consumed, considering their extreme durability and intense resistance to damage and wear, completely understandable. Additionally, implemented variable pressure control is accessible from the pump head to adapt to cleaning projects, the operator is in control at all times.

Another great feature is the Leak Detection System, which has multiple benefits, the leading one being the protection of machine and electronics. For example; If you had a leak in a coupling or seal within the unit, this particular model will shut down altogether and alerts the operator on the controls that there is a leak. Overall, protecting electrics and components from water damage. Another benefit being the prevention of floods, if for example, you use your machine in a stationery area, on different pressure washers the machine would usually continue to leak and operate at the same time – obviously longer durations means more of a flood. This model cuts the machine off and water inlet to stop this.

The machine is supplied with a stop and start system, which has the ability to cut the power of the machine when operators leave the unit running. Leaving pressure washers switched on and in motion can seriously damage and destroy components by seizing up or burning out. This small, yet significant feature prevents this.

Technology is at the heart of this pressure washer as its incorporated Exhaust Gas Temperature Limiter, which does as it says on the tin: monitors the temperature of exhaust fumes from the machine. This is an amazing feature which consists of a probe in the chimney with sensors and terminates the burner if it ever gets dangerously hot.

Karcher HDS 6/10 Overall is an amazing pressure washer which should achieve most cleaning projects. It has optional additional attachments which can improve performance, and chemicals which can reduce the effort required.

Why does my Pressure Washer keep blowing fuses?

When it comes to blowing fuses in your pressure washer machine, there are multiple factors which may be at play. Continue reading for the most common mistakes and how to easily avoid, prevent or fix issues regarding fuses.

First thing Aqua Blast Systems tend to ask our customers: Are you using an Extension Lead? As this is usually, from our experience, the main cause for fuses blowing due to Pressure Washers in the UK operating just shy of 13Amps – So with more extension comes more resistance, meaning your fuse is having to work extra hard. Solution: Connect your pressure washer directly into a plug socket for maximum current; or ensure the extension lead cable you’re using is as thick, if not more than the pressure washer cable to enable current to flow easier.

If you decide to use an extension lead, we would highly recommend that you uncoil the entire cable to avoid resistance, over-heating and Voltage drop. It is important that you do so because if your machine does experience a Voltage-drop, naturally, your motor will begin to draw more Amps in an attempt to compensate – Therefore, blowing fuses in your machine or tripping the overload. Another demanding recommendation we insist on is advising that you use a water-proof extension power socket that is RCD fitted.

Overall, if your cable is too short, ALWAYS look to extend your high-pressure hose rather than mains cable.

Recently, has your pressure washer been subject to a high-pressure nozzle replacement? Did you check what size high-pressure nozzle your machine requires? This is another common mistake few of our customers do and the reason it becomes a problem for your fuses is that the wrong size nozzle can potentially restrict the outlet water flow. Imagine your machine requires you to spray water out of a ’10 pence piece’ size hole, and now you have a ‘penny’ size hole. Restricting water flow like this can overload the motor due to a build-up of pressure, as well as possible blowing of fuses. Always check that you are using the correct nozzle size required for your machine to avoid any future controversy.

Machine has been working perfectly for years and now suddenly feels like no power? Your machine is likely to be ‘scaled-up‘ which is the biggest problem, being water orientated, for pressure washers – as you can imagine. Similarly to nozzle sizes, a build-up of limescale can restrict water flow by forcing the hose circumference narrower, which again, can overload the pump and pop fuses.

However, limescale is not only an issue for your hoses, but it also builds up in the boiler and couplings around the machine – You can check if your machine has been a victim to limescale very easily; simply, remove the hose from machine and look down the end to see for any build-up.

Another way, if your machine has high-pressure chemical abilities, you can check for scale by running pressure washer with no hose attached, meaning that your pressure gauge should measure ‘0’. If no hose is attached and the gauge reads more than ‘0’ this is a typical sign for limescale. Solution: Aqua Blast Systems ALWAYS recommend Karcher branded ‘RM110’ for medium and hard water, as it prevents limescale deposits and ensures constant water flow without loss of performance. You can purchase this in-store.

Lastly, fuses dying could just be a machine-related problem. This can consist of many possibilities – We have condensed the top 3 most common problems we encounter regularly: Bypass Valve not operating correctly or Pressure Settings are set too high for the machine. If this is the case for you, what you’ll find happens is fuses blow when releasing the trigger. Solution: We advise taking your Pressure Washer to (ourselves!) an engineer to have your machine looked at professionally.

Are your fuses blowing by only starting-up your machine? This is most likely too much pressure trapped. Solution: Very easy, simplistic fix to this issue: Before powering pressure washer up, squeeze the trigger and release all pressure within hose as this will relieve the motors start-up of high pressure.

Completing the practice of all the above should minimalize the risk of fuses blowing. Thank you.

How to keep your Pressure Washer safe?

Where have I put my wallet? Where’s my phone? Where has my pressure washer gone!?  We understand that sometimes you misplace valuable possessions, as do we, but it’s not always a misplaced mistake… As few of our customers have witnessed first hand, Pressure Washers are amongst the most common cleaning equipment thefts, Aqua Blast has made this guide to potentially safeguard your machine against criminal activity. So here are a few pointers which we suggest to our valued customers as safety precautions to minimalize the risk of theft.

You’re looking to purchase your new pressure washer, now if you’re going to a direct supplier, there is probably nothing to worry about – however, still worth checking, that the machine’s serial number is whole and not ‘tampered’ with. Aqua Blast Systems have been approached before to buy machines without serial numbers for a cheaper price, we refused, but that doesn’t necessarily mean other suppliers will. If you are purchasing a second-hand machine from an individual and you find it has not got a serial number, I highly suggest not pursuing with your purchase as it is most likely a stolen machine and may potentially ‘back-fire’ on you in the future.

You have just purchased your new machine (hopefully from Aqua Blast!), great! The first thing we recommend is taking note of your machine’s serial number, make and model then safely logging it either, online or in a password notebook – Preferably online, as you should always have a back-log this way. This is very important, because if your machine does ‘go missing’ you can report it to companies like ourselves, so if the ‘missing’ machine ever enters our workshop for repair, our excellent database will run through serial numbers to determine if a machine is stolen or not – If a red flag appears, police action is then taken.

Another highly advisable precaution you should take is applying SmartWater to your machine along with a warning sticker. SmartWater is a traceable liquid and forensic asset marking tool that is applied to items of value to deter theft or identify thieves. The liquid discards a long-lasting and unique identifier, whose presence is invisible except under an ultraviolet black light – However, what makes this substance so incredible, is because it’s full of millions of tiny particles; a unique number called “SIN” (SmartWater Identification Number), registered in a national police database together with the owners details, is encoded into each particle/fragment. Speaks for itself, if your machine goes missing, SmartWater can help the recovery process. And if your machine is found, it can confirm directly the owner of the machine.

With the above precautions in place, you should be relatively safe along with common sense – like ensuring that you store your machine in a secure location with a padlock. Nevertheless, Aqua Blast continue to give you these few final pointers which some people don’t take into consideration, for example: Beware leaving your machine unattended while going on a smoke break or lunch break – We have heard cases where machines have been stolen within the hour of the operators break, be sure to always secure your machine because leaving it on ‘display’ will most-likely bring unwanted attraction.

Try to be aware of leaving ‘tell-tale’ signs outside the location of operation, such as Hoses, brushes, lances, triggers etc. It’s no doubt that criminals look out for these particular attachments to target their next victim, leading to an investigation on your property. Which no one wants.

I hope this small article has helped you and given some ideas on how to potentially prevent theft of your machine. Stay safe.
